Flexible Benefits
Many companies have either introduced flexible benefits or are contemplating introducing a scheme in the future.
With the additional choices that a flexible benefit system offers, comes the additional burden of selection. Typical questions that come to mind for the employee are:
- If my core death-in-service benefit is 2X salary, how do I decide on increasing to 3X or 4X salary?
- My core PHI benefit offers 50% of basic salary. Should I top up to 66%?
- There is the offer of critical illness cover for my spouse. Should I take it?
- Is the rate for additional life cover competitive relative to what I can get elsewhere?
- Can I afford to surrender cash for extra holiday?
These are not questions that an HR Department would like to answer but are typical reactions from employees to flex choices.
