This fund aims to achieve a balance of income and capital growth through a portfolio of primarily UK equity and fixed interest securities. In pursuing this objective, the fund managers may include investments that they consider appropriate, which include transferable securities, money market instruments, warrants, collective investment schemes, deposits and other permitted investments and transactions. It is suitable for an investor who wishes to invest in equity and bond markets and may require income, but who wishes to take a lower level of risk than represented by a typical "balanced" managed fund.

This fund is co-managed by Paul Causer and Paul Read who make key decisions regarding the overall asset allocation of the fund. Paul Causer was head of the fixed income team at Invesco, originally joining the company in 1994. Paul Read was head of the fixed income team at Invesco, joining the company in 1995. Neil Woodford also plays an important role in providing his market & stock views on the fund's overall strategy.
